What is the 1-2-3-4 Approach?

This is something that I make sure to explore with myself and all of my clients and for one specific reason…it works! The 1-2-3-4 approach is something that I learned from one of my mentors, Paul Chek. It is also something that is very simple and can be used for individuals as well as families.

1. Love

The number one stands for finding out what it is that drives you. It can be a big dream you have or something that you love more than anything. A passion perhaps.  You can call it any of these.

heartI will share mine with you all so that you can have a better understanding. My dream is being a rehabilitation specialist and that is the life I am living. In living this dream I am living a life of health, happiness and balance in all aspects of my life. This allows me to live the life I love and to help share with others what I have found to be true with regard to overall l wellness.

Finding your one love helps you not to have to find out your nightmare. This is something that you would never want to see happening to yourself. Using this nightmare can be a motivator though if you cannot find a dream that will drive you.  For certain people the fear of cancer can be enough to make sure they get to bed on time. You will have to try it out and see what works best for you.

2. Forces

These forces are commonly known as yin and yang. It is where everything emerges from. It is the some-thing and no-thing, male and female, night and day, yes and no, black and white, emptiness and fullness.

yin-yangThere are two sides to every story (heads and tails) and each of those forces affects us differently. We must individually find this balance in ourselves (and our 4 Doctors) and then share it with others.

With everything in life we can see these 2 forces if we are willing to open our eyes to them and we will see with number 3- how it is that we make a choice between these forces.

3. Choices

For each decision you come across you will experience 3 choices that you can make:

Optimal

This is the best choice for all who are involved. If you are the only person involved then it is the best decision that you can for make with no downfalls. Should there be a partner, friend, family or company you work for or own involved it would be best for all involved. Each and every member of your dream team must be taken into account when making a decision whether it be the optimal choice or not.

choicesSub-optimal

This is the next best choice that can be made. It is going to be the best choice you can make in a situation such as you are traveling and forgot to plan ahead with food. Your optimal choice may be to eat, but your only options are a sandwich or fasting. You happen to be sensitive to gluten so you decide to fast. Even though this may not have been your optimal choice, it was the best that you could make in the given situation. To show an example with families this would be the optimal choice for some, but not the entire family. Therefore it is sub-optimal since it is not the best decision for all involved, but is still the best conscious decision that can be made.

Indifferent

It is very often thought that indifference is just hating something, but this is not true. Hating something is still a choice that has concern for the other whether that be good or bad.  Indifference is more of a complete disinterest in something. It may be that you simply need more information on a subject or you will then become apathetic. This is something to keep in consideration because a complete lack of caring in something is still going to affect your body. Most people understand how your diet can affect you, but what about stress.  If you are completely indifferent to your stress levels or that of those around you then you will not be able to achieve your optimal health.

Which door will you choose?

4. Doctors

Dr. Diet

Dr. Diet is going to be who we will study for the next quarter of the year. We will be covering many different nutrition and hydration topics as well as giving tips along the way for those that are a little busier or on a budget.

Dr. Quiet

balanceDuring the following quarter we will begin our study of Dr. Quiet. When it is time for this we will look at the importance of sleep and how to achieve the best quality. This will also be a great time to look at our breathing mechanics as well as how to recover from our stressful lives.

Dr. Movement

Next we will study the beautiful movement of the body. We want to make sure to have a good understanding of working out versus working in. This will give us a great perspective on the 2 Forces so that we can balance our energy out with bringing more energy in.

Dr. Happiness

We then will finish up the year with our study of Dr. Happiness. Sure everybody wants to be happy, but we may not all know how to get there.  When this doctor comes around get ready because we will all be laughing and smiling together.

Have a Great Day!
