Pauperism for Brain Health

This is one that I want you to stick with me on for a moment.

Living like a pauper really can improve the health of your brain. Living like a pauper does also not mean that it must last forever, that you are poor or unhealthy. On the contrary pauperism can really give a boost to your brain health that you have been looking for.

Gratitude: the quality of being thankful; readiness to show appreciation for and to return kindness.

Appreciation: the recognition and enjoyment of the good qualities of someone or something.

The two words above can oftentimes be overlooked in everyday life. They are of particular importance to me because of brain health. They are also particularly important to a pauper. If you do not have everything you need to survive, let alone want, the feelings and emotions that you can experience when you get those things can be incredible.

Take food for example. Just because you can eat any food any time you want to does not mean that everybody can do this. Shelter is another good one that we all need. A roof over your head and the heat or air conditioning regulating the temperature to keep you in a comfortable environment is a big deal, but is not often thought of as such.

Time to Experiment

It is time to take an hour, day, week, month or year and live the live of a pauper. Your brain will thank you for it. By being able to truly show gratitude and appreciation your brain will be bathed in the feel good hormones and chemicals that accompany these. I find it hard to believe that your brain could be sick, diseased and inflamed if you are having these emotions run through your body, so make some time now. Just start with a little bit and maybe skip a meal or two. I’m sure the next one will taste even better. Perhaps you can go without the air conditioning turned on for a week, after all you don’t need to have it on, but you want to. When you go to turn it back on make sure to feel the rush of emotions that flood your brain.
