Is Tai Chi for Me?

Well the answer to that question, as is the answer to many others, is that it depends.

Do you want to have more energy, age slower, heal from disease and just feel better? If you answered yes to any of these or a host of other proven health benefits then listen on up because you are going to want to start your moving meditation as soon as you can.

I am not going to pretend to be a tai chi expert. I have used a few different DVDs and YouTube to do some of my learning. This along with being taught how to use a tai chi ruler from Paul Chek. He has cited Master Fong Ha (http://www.fongha.com/) and Master Jesse Tsao (http://www.taichihealthways.com/) as both being great resources. I have found them to be as well and encourage you to check out what they have to offer.

Tai Chi Ruler

As I just mention I use the tai chi ruler in my daily practice. It is something that I do for 20 minutes a day, rain, sleet, sun or snow, outside under my tai chi tree. It is done with a piece of wood held between my palms to allow energy to transfer through. I am standing in a split stance and as I draw my arms in and sink back I bring energy in through my breath. Next I begin to drop down and forward as I move the energy and prepare to invite more into my body. I cannot do this movement justice through description so I encourage you to watch the video.

There are countless forms of tai chi that exist and I imagine more that are being created every day. I encourage you to look around and see if one of these forms or other energy cultivating exercises that we have discussed resonate well with you. It is very important to remember that it does not matter which one you pick as they are all beneficial, but you must do the one you like and will complete on a daily basis. This one that sticks, even if simple, will give you the energy you dream of.

Have a great Day!
