The Only Three Sunblock’s you’ll ever need!

There are a whole lot of different sunblock’s out there from SPF 2 up to SPF 100 and everything in between.

The average sunblock that is recommended is SPF 30 and if you are doing “outdoor activities” this goes up to 50. That the heck does all of this stuff really mean though since I thought the sun was supposed to be a good thing, so why would I want to use a sunblock to stop the sun from getting to me.

What is Sun Protection Factor?

The sun protection factor is a number that means how much longer something will take to burn you. For example, if you are using an SPF 30 sunblock then it will take 30 times as long for you to burn versus using nothing at all.

Does SPF Matter?

This of course is a very controversial topic, but I think is quite simple. The sun is great for us, but too much exposure causes oxidation and damage to the skin. Why though does this happen. I feel that the poor quality food choices, specifically a diet low in saturated fats contributes to this. Therefore, clean up your diet and use the Top Three Sunblock’s from below and you will be well on your way to enough vitamin D, a nice tan and feeling great.

Top Three Sunblock’s

  • Coconut Oil– highly saturated and protects against oxidation. Not going to be as effective if used like a chemical laden test tube, but is if used intelligently and applied regularly this will certainly do the trick. I have used this in Hawaii, which is close to the equator, without any problems (don’t forget I eat right and manage my exposure with the following as well)
  • Clothing/Hat– wearing a hat and putting on lightweight long sleeved shirt will work quite nicely if you need to spend extended periods of time in the sun. With these you really have no excuses.
  • Shade– Last I checked trees and umbrellas still worked to protect you from the sun. Don’t scoff at the idea or overlook them

Won’t Not Using Sunblock Cause Cancer?

First, without the sun, we would be dead. We must use it intelligently. This means getting enough to produce adequate vitamin D in the body, but not so much to char us. I am not convinced that all of the chemicals in sunblock don’t even contribute to skin and other cancers when applied to the body. Remember that the skin is your biggest organ and you will absorb anything that you put on it. Just be smart about the sun and use it to your benefit.
